I bought a set of Mizuno 221 blades last year as a 10 handicap. I never felt they were difficult to hit. I love the feel and look of them and I now hit them further than my previous irons. I strike the ball better than I ever did and I've cut my handicap to 7 and expect to get to 5 this season. I think everyone makes blades scarier than they really are. You don't have to be the world's best ball striker to play themand you might become a better ball striker if you do.

Played the course yesterday (Oct 19-2023), and each hole is a gem. However, it’s sometimes a long distance between green to tee on a fair fe holes. Not really a course I’d want to walk because of it. But…… the holes ARE fantastic. Free balls on the range too. Fantastic course.

Would never play this course again after the shocking treatment received today . One to avoid

If you want to play blades, play blades. The biggest gripe against them , is that you will lose 5-10 yards on off center strikes, but lets be honest, game improvement clubs tend to do something similar. If you make really good contact with the ball with game improvement irons, they will also tend to go about 10 yards farther than 90% of all your other hits with that same club. Don't believe me? Test it out yourself. I've played game improvement irons for a long time. I know how far I hit my irons. When I make the occasional exceptional shot, they 100% go further than I am used to. Now instead of landing on the green, I've blown right past it. I don't think people should talk about blades as if they're the only clubs that have performance issues with off center strikes.

I have PING i15 for the course...and some Bridgestone Tourstage Z101's sitting in the corner, as I'm not good enough to use.

I never drool over someone else's shiny pretty clubs and melt. What I do get jealous of is when I play with someone who has great skills. The club thing is for people with a newbie mentality. Us non professionals shouldn't worry about CBs looking too chunky, we should worry about trying to get better.

I'm a purist. I've always played Wilson Staff. The challenge of being able to bend the ball when I want adds an element to the game I don't think you have with a cast iron.

Doesn’t matter if I play blades or cavity backs I’m gonna chunk it or shank it regardless 😂 I play a small players Tourstage iron closer to a blade. The distance control and gapping on them is soooo much better. There’s no need to hit a 7 iron 190 yards

The course has a new layout to avoid going up between the houses on what was 15/16. A new par 3 is added to be hole 3 and a par 3 replaces the closed holes. I got 8 shots and shot 75 😎

I was a high teen handicap for years and got to mid teens after a couple of coaches.... not till I moved to muscle backs did my game jump from teens to a 7.9 at my peak of playing and practicing. I'm sure it could've been lower except I play for the green even behind a tree.. lol.. but my point is, all this crap about amateurs not being able to hit MBs or shouldn't own them is pure crap. I played coy at Roger Dunn last weekend (total novice). They gave me a game improvement iron and I was flushing it 175 carry and rolled out to high 180s... I asked if that was good and they said yes its pretty impressive. I asked if I could just try a CB they said I wouldn't even strike it right... lol. I was like ok

Bought me some old Tiger Woods VR forged blades when I was a 5 handicap. I’ve had kids and a family now so prolly more realistically a 12-14….still wouldn’t trade these blades for anything. The look, the feel, the ball flight. Old as they are they are my babies

I think the average golfer can’t play blades myth comes from the golf equipment producers. If it just came down to every 6-8 years you bought new blades, they’d be selling a lot less clubs

Just bought it ...- tried the drills missed the first one from 5ft so best score 0! ..perfect putt 13 so that's not bad for first attempt - Going to do it every day and hopefully see the improvment

In the 25 ball drill, when the ball returns to me, does it have to return exactly to the same spot from where it was hit? Is it okay if its short or too long on the return?

I love my Puttout trainer and mat but I feel like the "perfect putt" would really be left pretty long if you missed a real cup. Maybe it's just my feeling.

I play anything and if I want too I just bump the loft stronger the loft is way too old scoo traditional . I play cobra one length but I also have the same mb blade cobra as well. And just as you said it’s the feel that build the confidence vs being scared by the look . I hit the blades better. It has something to do with the narrow sole of the club that makes it better than game improvement clubs… I play anything tho. Currently games Tom wishon Eq1nx single length . I love these clubs but I wish they would make single length blades that would be nice . Someway somehow they have too implement swing weight or head weight too single length blade

I play blades to get better, my old oversized irons were more forgiving but too numb to give me feedback on what I was doing wrong. I don't care about my score, I care about improving my striking.

I'm 18 handicap and I play blades. Very happy with them, I find them accurate and they give me confidence. They will punish me if I don't strike the centre, but that's what I want. You can really feel what's happening. I have a set of game improvement Pings as well, which I occasionally use, but I don't play any better with them, about the same score-wise but not so enjoyable.

Try midsized grips, will keep you from going left

I was using 714MB's, and didn't have a HC, switched to MP-54's in the Autumn of last year, and swapped by to Titleist blades 2 weeks ago. Play off 15 (14.8)

I’m an 12 handicap and I hate hitting cavity back irons.. they are oversized and look weird. But then again I learned to play golf when I was a kid with blade hogan irons and persimmon woods. I just can’t get over the look of the top line and how big the club is behind the ball.

I don't think your mid handicapper from what I saw. More a low handicapper, I have no doubt you would be able to use blades with that swing. It's a very sound swing, what's the handicap?

Hmm...on drill 1, it looked like your putts were rolling back to you. Doesn't that mean you would have gone 5 feet past?

I'm an 11 handicap and I have always had blades. Just upgraded from mp32 to mp20. I was taught that blades are good for mid handicappers because they give you feedback and help you learn. I love them and every time I try cb irons they feel fake and hollow.

Blades honestly I think should be more popular. It's sad that these irons are "only for the pros"... That's bullshit, I've been playing the Mizuno jpx tour irons for a year now. I went from shooting 90's now I'm in the mid 70's. All in a year (with practice every day including in my basement during the winter). I picked up a set of Mizuno MP-4 3-pw today EXTREAMLY cheap and in great condition. I think these are the sexiest things I've ever seen... I hit them great! I just use titlest u500 3&2 irons instead of fairway woods

Other than status why would they want to. In the back of my mind I’d like to be able to hit them but in reality it isn’t realistic unless I spend all day practicing, you said distance isn’t important to you, what’s your normal distance with a 7 iron?

KEV caddied at tour school 2nd stage for the last 10years, and off the back tees this is a really tough track, 17th par 3 off the back is 245 middle driver for most amateurs great course/ pete cordery

Red Mountain is a beautiful course however Blue Canyon ( not the lakes side)Is by far the most difficult course in Phuket

I've played for about 42 years, and I've always played blades. And I'm a mid-handicapper at about 12. I just bought an older set of Mizuno MP 60s, because they were lighter than my custom-made Snake eyes blades that I had made 22 years ago. They also are a muscle back, which I felt like I had lost some swing speed since I had my Snake eyes blades made. But I love those Snake eyes blades very much, and I'm battling back from a health issue right now and when I do get back, I think I'm going to get the TaylorMade 730s or another good blade. But I'm not there yet...

I'm getting back into golf bought sim max os irons and some cobra king blades. The feedback from the blades is instant and it will make me better ball striker.really focusing now. Feels awesome!
